Resentment brews against MP Rabindra Jena; party workers meet CM
Bhubaneswar: Members of the BJD’s Baliapal unit in Balasore district met party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today protesting alleged anti-party ouster of party workers by MP Rabindra Jena.
‘Biju Shramik Samukhya’ state vice president Sachindra Das said MP Jena who is the district party president had conspired to defeat the BJD from winning block chairman post during the last panchayat polls even as 15 out of 28 members of the party had won the elections.
“From that day onwards, he had removed many leaders from the party including district secretary Satyanand Mohanty,” said Das.
Asked about the cause behind the move, the block chairman candidate from the party who had lost the panchayat polls said, “Jena has been trying to project his wife for fighting elections in place of the Nityanand Sahu, the current MLA from Basta Assembly constituency by trying to remove BJD leaders from the party and welcome his other confidantes from Congress.”
The members also handed a memorandum with 13,000-signatures as a mark of protest against the MP.
“Since we apprehend that the party might lose its stronghold in the district, we have urged the party president to immediately intervene into the matter and remove the MP from the party affairs. We have also demanded that his family members be also denied tickets during the upcoming elections,” the block chairman candidate said.
Earlier in July this year, activists of party’s Balasore unit organised a meeting at Bolang under Balipala block of the district to protest alleged anti-party activities of the MP.
