‘Repeated’ Loot From Odisha Temple Raises Concerns

Sonepur: Unidentified miscreants reportedly looted valuables worth lakhs from Maa Sureswari temple in Sonepur town of Subarnapur district late last night.

Sources said robbers entered the temple by breaking open the lock of the entrance door and decamped with cash and gold jewellery kept in the donation box of the temple.

The matter came to fore when priest came to the temple to perform morning rituals. After receiving information, police reached the temple and began investigation.

As similar loot cases were reported from the temple earlier, there has been resentment growing among devotees.

“Police have failed to nab the looters and that’s why robbery incidents have been occurring at the temple repeatedly,” said a devotee.
