In the aftermath of the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, security measures across key locations in Odisha have been significantly heightened. The police have placed Puri and Hirakud Dam under a state of high alert as a precautionary measure.
In Puri, the district police have intensified security around Shree Jagannath Temple, the beach areas, Bada Danda, the railway station, and the bus stand. Puri SP has directed all Inspectors-in-Charge (IICs) to remain on high alert and ensure round-the-clock patrolling in sensitive and crowded zones.
“Police are active. We are conducting search operations and call upon people to inform us if they see or find anything suspicious. We have also deployed trained commandos around the Srimandir. We have also deployed police personnel in the entry and exit points of Puri. The control room is also on high alert, watching for suspicious activities,” informed Puri SP Prateek Singh.

The move aims to prevent any untoward incident and reassure pilgrims and tourists visiting the holy town.
Similarly, security at Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur has been tightened following fresh intelligence inputs in the wake of the Delhi blast. Sambalpur SP informed that the police are maintaining strict vigil and have increased checking and surveillance at entry points and public areas near the dam.
Police teams across the state have been instructed to conduct random checks at bus stands, railway stations, and marketplaces, ensuring maximum vigilance in densely populated areas. The enhanced security measures will continue until further review by the Home Department.
