Koraput/Gajapati: Red alert has been sounded in all the southern and naxal affected districts in the state in the wake of the Peoples` Liberation Guerrilla Army(PLGA) week celebrations from Friday. Joint combing operations by central and state security personnel too have been intensified as it is feared that the Maoists would launch surprising attacks to take revenge of the killing of top guerrilla leader Koteshwara Rao alias Kishenji who was gunned down by the West Bengal police.

Maoist posters have appeared in several parts of Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati districts said to be the red bastions in the state. The Maoists too have put the posters on buses and urged the people to support the peoples` war. The posters said that CPI(Maoist) would further intensify the guerrilla war and liberate Dandakaranya, Bihar and Jharkhand and the PLGA would then be rechristened as PLA. Vehicular traffic is expected to be the first victim of the week-long celebrations.
