Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh to next of kin of 23 people, who were killed in the deadly road mishap in Kalyansinghpur area of Rayagada district.
He has directed the district administration to pay the ex-gratia amount by tomorrow from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

At least 23 persons were killed and 37 others injured when a tractor in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Upara Anchalbadi ghat in Rayagada district’s Kalyansighpur area on Friday evening.

According to police, residents of Hiranpadu village were returning from a wedding reception in Seriguma when the tragic accident occurred killing 20 villagers on the spot.

Notably, on Friday, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives Chief Minister had said that all the treatment expenses of the injured would be borne by the CM's Relief Fund and Odisha State Treatment Fund (OSTF).
