A new twist has surfaced in the firecracker explosion incident linked to the Bhogi Podi festival celebrations in Odisha’s Rayagada district.
Contrary to earlier reports that suggested the blast occurred at the festival venue, the latest information reveals that the explosion actually took place inside a person’s house while firecrackers were allegedly being prepared.
The powerful blast left several people seriously injured, causing severe burn injuries.
According to sources, one person lost an eye in the explosion while another injured individual, identified as Hawildar Krushna Chandra Bag, sustained critical injuries to his palm. The incident triggered panic in the locality, with residents rushing to the spot to help the injured.
Injured shifted to Visakhapatnam
All the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. However, as their health condition worsened, four severely injured persons were later shifted to Visakhapatnam for advanced medical treatment.
Police Investigation Underway
Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion and to ascertain whether fire safety norms were violated.
Investigation reports will reveal further information related to the blast, sources said.
Another Explosion Case in Bolangir
An eight-year-old boy reportedly lost his eye in a freebie toy explosion in Odisha's Bolangir on Monday.
The boy allegedly found a toy in a chips packet, which was a lighter-like object. He ate the chips but threw the toy, thinking it to be of no use, into the fire. All of a sudden, the object exploded, leaving no scope for the child to escape.--
