Rayagada admin to bear medical expenses of girl with rare condition
Rayagada/Cuttack: The Rayagada district administration will bear the entire medical expenses of the 19-year-old girl Mita Sabar of Perupanga village of Rayagada district, who suffers from a rare medical condition that has led to abnormal growth of her right hand.
Rayagada Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), Dr Chandrika Das informed that after conducting primary tests in a hospital in Rayagada, Mita was sent to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
“She is not able to lift her hand and could not even perform her daily chores. When we came to know about her condition, the district administration decided to bear her entire medical expenses. After a discussion with the head of the Surgery department of SCB, she has been admitted to the hospital for treatment,” Das said.
Earlier, Rs 10, 000 was sanctioned from the Red Cross after her elder sister Kumari Sabar apprised the district administration about Mita’s condition but the sum was not enough to meet the medical expenditure.
Mita was in class VII when her right hand started increasing in size. As Mita could not even walk without any support, she had to quit her studies.
