Cuttack: The Vice Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Prof B C Tripathy today refused to relook at the decision of postponing electioneering for next months students union election and said that if normalcy in the campus was necessary for holding the October-8 poll.

"Unless the situation inside the campus doesn?t improve, we'll not budge an inch from our stand on polls," Tripathy said.

He said normalcy in campus was an essential prerequisite to hold elections for the students union and there would be no compromise on it.

The university authorities are sticking to its stand mainly due to a dharna staged by two non-students, who are seeking admissions to a particular PG course despite the last date for the same has expired since long and there is no vacant seat in the same course.

The authorities are also taking umbrage to the fact that a handful of students are also giving moral support to these strikers.
