Rasagola Mahotsav celebrates Odisha’s quintessential sweet
Bhubaneswar: The enthusiasm was at its peak as people thronged the second edition of Rasagola Mahotsav organised on the occasion of Makar Sankranti by Odisha Television Network and Bharat Masala in Bhubaneswar today.
With the slogan – ‘Rath Yatra jebe thu Rasagola sebe thu’ – the event was a huge draw. People from all walks of life were seen at the Rasagola Mahotsav savouring the quintessential sweet of Odisha. Around 50 traders participated in the mahotsav and their innovative takes on the sweet were on display.
“It was really a unique experience to taste a variety of Rasagolas under one roof,” said a visitor.
“Rasagola is deeply rooted in Odia culture as it is being offered to Lord Jagannath since ages. Similarly, it is also deeply associated with our tradition and other States cannot claim it to be theirs,” said Jagannath culture researcher, Surya Narayan Ratha Sharma.
Biswanath Samantaray, secretary of Badu Nijog said, “As earlier most of the prasad, rituals and other traditions associated with Rasagola in Puri Temple were not publicised, West Bengal got the GI tag.”
