Rape accused gives cops a slip, flees from Kendrapara hospital

Kendrapara: A youth, who was arrested for allegedly raping a girl, escaped while undergoing treatment at Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

The youth, identified as Raju Jena, was injured after he was thrashed by locals at a ‘kangaroo court’ trial for allegedly raping a minor girl of Talachua village under Rajnagar block on August 27.

Later, the family members of the girl filed a complaint case against Raju who was subsequently detained by police in connection with the incident.

As Raju sustained injuries in the attack, he was admitted to the Kendrapara DHH and was undergoing treatment under police custody since then.

However, he escaped on pretext of attending nature's call today.
