Bhubaneswar: Raising concern over the issue of climate change, more than 300 people from different walks of life today took part in “Global Climate Protest Bhubaneswar” rally in the State capital.

The peaceful protest began at 7 AM today in front of Ram Mandir. Among prominent personalities, cine artistes Anu Choudhury and Partha Sarathi were present there.

"It is the responsibility of each one of use to protect the earth so everyone should do their bit," said Choudhury.

The protesters sloganeering in Odia, English, and Hindi walked all the way till Master Canteen Chhak where, Pratyush, a student enacted an skit to convey the seriousness of the climate crisis while another student Tirthankar delighted the crowd with cycling stunts.

The full list of demands catering to emission reduction, phasing out of fossil fuel, biodiversity restoration, waste segregation, sewage treatment, restoration of ponds in Ekamra Kshetra, creating urban forests, etc. will be later handed over to the Chief Minister, the Governor, and the Minister of Forest and Environment.

The protest, organised by Unmukt Foundation, ended by a round of pledges taken by all participants, to reduce their carbon footprint, at an individual level.
