Bhadrak: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh today lashed out at the ruling-BJD and questioned why Odisha is still lagging behind in development despite the fact that the State has a stable government.

Addressing a public rally at Ranital in Bhadrak, Singh said that the CM is answerable to the people of Odisha for the lack of development in the State. "There is a stable government in the State, but I don't understand why there is no significant development," said Singh.

On farmers' issue in the State, Singh alleged that the farmers in the State are not getting minimum support price (MSP) of one and half times of their input cost. "If BJP comes to power in the upcoming polls, the party will ensure that farmers get MSP of one and half times of input cost for their agricultural produce," he said.

He also came down heavily on Congress president Rahul Gandhi for the latter's 'Chowkidar, Chor hai' remark. "Chowkidar, Pure hai and he will be the PM again for sure; he is the cure of all problems," said the senior BJP leader.

Meanwhile, Congress hit back at the BJP leader and said that the situation the country is presently in (hinting towards the Pulwama attack), such comment from Singh is saddening.

"During such a sensitive situation in the country, poll campaign by the PM and the Home Minister and the kind of language being used by them are quite saddening," said Arya Kumar Gyanendra, vice president of Odisha Congress.

Comments from BJD leaders could not be obtained on the allegations of Singh.
