Bhubaneswar: While the temperature continues to slowly inch up towards 40 degree mark in Odisha, people of the State might get a bit of relief from the heat under the impact of rain in the next 48 hours.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar today informed that rainfall is likely to occur in several parts of coastal, north and southern Odisha in the next 48 hours.

As per the latest forecast, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh in western Odisha are likely to experience rainfall on March 13. Similarly, parts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Baripada, Nayagarh and Kandhamal are expected to receive heavy rainfall on March 14 and 15.

A release from the Meteorological centre stated that a cyclonic circulation system developing over Bay of Bengal could trigger the rainfall activity in the State for the next three days.

Under the impact of the rain, temperatures across the state are likely to remain low.

On Tuesday, Malkangiri remained the hottest place of the State with 38.5 degree Celsius followed by Bhawanipatna, Bolangir and Sonepur  at 37 degree Celsius.
