Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Monday issued moderate thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with rainfall warning in eight districts of the State.

As per the latest weather bulletin, moderate thunderstorm and lightning with light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Puri, Ganjam and Gajapati till 12.30 PM today.

The Met department said as the southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha, it may trigger light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places over the districts of north interior Odisha and at a few places over rest of the districts.

“The southwest monsoon is likely to become active from October 2 following which the amount of rainfall will also increase in the State on October 2 and 3. Under its impact, light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur over the districts Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Sonepur, Angul and Keonjhar,” informed Duty Officer of Bhubaneswar Met Centre Madan Mohan Das.
