Train services on the busy ChennaiHowrah mainline are set to be affected later this month due to safety-related modernisation work between Ganjam and Jhadupudi.

The work will be carried out under the Khurda Road and Waltair railway divisions, leading to slower train movement and changes in scheduled services.

The modernisation drive will be undertaken on five days between February 15 and February 28. As a result, several long-distance and passenger trains, including the BhubaneswarBengaluru Prasanthi Express, will face rescheduling and partial cancellations.

Prasanthi Express Rescheduled

The KSR Bengaluru–Bhubaneswar Prasanthi Express (18464) will be rescheduled by two hours from KSR Bengaluru on February 17, 21, 24 and 28.

During the period of work, trains and their speeds will be regulated at different points along the affected section, official sources said.

Passenger Trains Partially Cancelled

Local passenger services will also be impacted. The Bhubaneswar–Brahmapur MEMU (68411) will short-terminate at Chatrapur on four days between February 15 and February 25.

Similarly, the Brahmapur–Bhubaneswar MEMU (68412) will short-originate from Chatrapur on four days within the same period.

The Visakhapatnam–Kirandul passenger will short-terminate at Dantewada from February 16 to February 27, while the Kirandul–Visakhapatnam passenger will short-originate from Dantewada from February 17 to February 28.
