Bhubaneswar: Police arrested seven persons here on Saturday on the charges of duping job seekers by taking thousands of rupees from them with assurance of providing them jobs in railways.

The matter came to light only after the victims lodged a complaint at the Saheed Nagar police station in connection with the alleged cheating recently.

As per the complaint, one Universal Rail Private Limited company at Tankapani road in Bhubaneswar lured the aspirants of providing them jobs as Assistant Goods Guard.

The private firm also reportedly collected a fee of Rs 40,000 from each of the aspirants in lieu of the job.

"Seven persons have been arrested and are being interrogated. Further investigation will be taken up basing on their statements," said a senior police official.
