Cuttack: In a bid to curb illegal manufacture and sale of the firecrackers ahead of Diwali, police conducted raids on several illegal firecrackers manufacturing units at Padmapur, Trilochanpur and Kazi Bazaar in Jagatpur area of Cuttack and seized huge cache of explosives and crackers from the godowns.

Acting on a tip-off, a team comprising SP and IIC along with police force raided the units and seized firecrackers worth lakhs of rupees. Later, police detained three persons in this connection.

While it is being said that the firecrackers were supplied to Cuttack and its periphery areas, an investigation is currently underway to ascertain from where the raw materials were being supplied to these illegal cracker units.
