Bhubaneswar: Rajya Sabha Member Pyarimohan Mohapatra on Tuesday launched a new political party - Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) at his Saheed Nagar residence here.

“Members of the party and representatives from 110 constituencies of Legislative Assembly elected me as President, Rajendra Prasad Singh as Vice-President, Jagneswar Babu as General Secretary and Dr. Sarat Mishra as Treasurer of OJM,” said Pyari in a press conference here.

The party will win 80 to 85 seats in the upcoming poll, claimed Pyari.

I will fire a 'Brahmastra' against Naveen Patnaik before elections, added OJM Preisdent.

Reacting to the launch of Pyari’s OJM, Panchayati Raj minister Kalpataru Das said, “There is nothing new in launching a political party. A number of political parties have already been launched in state which people don’t even remember.”

Earlier addressing a Karmi Sammelini (workers' meeting) of the Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM), the political forum floated by him on September 30, at Phulo Bado ground, on the outskirts of Jeypore, he spoke of launching a political party in the next two months.

In fact, the Morcha had tried its best to organise a Kranti Samavesh rally at Berhampur town or any other place in Ganjam on March 22, but it had failed to get official permission for the same.

The Morcha had subsequently approached the High Court after it was denied permission to hold the rally at the Medical College ground at Berhampur and the matter was still pending before the court.
