Bhubaneswar: Expanding the scope of their investigation in the Plus II Physics question paper leak case, Crime Branch officials have zeroed in on the private self-financing colleges in Sambalpur.

The CB sleuths on Tuesday conducted search operations in Newton college, Aims +2 college and Vedic +2 science college, Ainthapali in Sambalpur, sources said.

The officials who are suspecting the involvement of more private institutions and officials in the case, vetted documents related to admission process, institution management and other records, added sources.

“The team may conduct surprise visit to some more colleges to find additional clues,” said an official on condition of anonymity.

On Monday the CB sleuths arrested three from Sambalpur in connection with case which had given sleepless nights to many including Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) officials.

Police said Kartik Barik, chairman of Shandilya College of Science and Commerce, Sambalpur, Subhas Barik, marketing agent of the college and Devendra Behera, CHSE Deputy Secretary (Sambalpur zone) have been arrested.
