Puri district is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus, Situated along the coast of Bay of Bengal in the state of Odisha. Puri is also known as Jagannath Puri. It is considered as one “Dhaam” among four holy “Dhaam” in India. The holy script of the Skanda Purana describes Puri as the resting place of Lord Vishnu. With only three days left for the inauguration of Srimandir Parikrma Prakalpa, preparations are on a war footing in the pilgrim city of Puri. Rituals like Acharya Baran and Guateka were organised at the palace of Puri king Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasigha Deb on Friday while Ankruraropan Niti was solemnized on Saturday.
Ahead of the inauguration of the ‘Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa’ (Srimandir Heritage Corridor Project) in Puri, Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb on Friday performed the ‘Acharyabaran Niti’ in his palace.
A total of 44 platoons of police force will be deployed for the overall security, traffic and other arrangements which will be in place from today till January 16.
