Puri district is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus, Situated along the coast of Bay of Bengal in the state of Odisha. Puri is also known as Jagannath Puri. It is considered as one “Dhaam” among four holy “Dhaam” in India. The holy script of the Skanda Purana describes Puri as the resting place of Lord Vishnu. Apart from this Puri district is famous for its golden sea beach and black pagoda or sun temple of Konark. The famous heritage art village Raghurajpur is in this district, where artisans paint world famous Pattachitra painting. Puri Khaja, Khechuudi, Dalma has its own special flavor.
Public relations officer (PRO) of the Govardhan Peeth, Pandit Matruprasad Mishra said, "Since the seer’s visit to the famous Gangasagar Mela in West Bengal was pre-scheduled, he has been there for the mela. That’s why he could not attend the ceremony.”
Patnaik and Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb broke open coconuts in front of the Parikrama plaque to dedicate the project to people.

During a special interview with OTV, the Puri King said that the outer infrastructure development of Srimadir is for smooth movement of devotees and easing the rush, but it has become essential to streamline the arrangements for devotees inside the Srimandir, particularly in Jagamohan and Natamandap.
On the second day of the Yajna today, rituals like Panchakarma, Shala Prabesh, and sprinkling of sacred water on the new structures were held. The recital of four Vedas was carried out like the previous day.
The project is valued at Rs 3,700 crore. It includes sub-projects like the redevelopment of the SJTA building, parking places, Srimandir reception centre, Shree Setu, Jagannath cultural center, toilets, clock rooms, Badadanda heritage streetscape, beachfront development, Puri Lake, and Musa river revival plan.
The Rigveda is being recited in front of Sighadwar; the Samaveda in front of the Paschimadwar; the Yajurveda in front of Uttaradwar and the Atharvaveda in front of Dakshinadwar.
A security blanket has been thrown in and around the pilgrim city of Puri for the inauguration ceremony of Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa on January 17.
Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, Congress leader Bijay Patnaik said, “The Odisha government is being run by a non-Odia ideology. The government does not know the essence of Srimandir. They think of it as only a tourist place and beautifying its periphery based on that thought.”

As part of security arrangements, 44 platoons of police personnel along with K-9 teams will be deployed in the city along with surveillance and bomb-defusing teams. The city will be under surveillance of 135 CCTVs fixed at different locations of the city.
With only three days left for the inauguration of Srimandir Parikrma Prakalpa, preparations are on a war footing in the pilgrim city of Puri. Rituals like Acharya Baran and Guateka were organised at the palace of Puri king Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasigha Deb on Friday while Ankruraropan Niti was solemnized on Saturday.
Ahead of the inauguration of the ‘Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa’ (Srimandir Heritage Corridor Project) in Puri, Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb on Friday performed the ‘Acharyabaran Niti’ in his palace.
A total of 44 platoons of police force will be deployed for the overall security, traffic and other arrangements which will be in place from today till January 16.
