Puri: Ahead of Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae Ranjit Kumar’s visit to Puri to hold discussions with servitors and State government in connection with reforms at Puri Jagannath Temple, Chief of Govardhan mutt and Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati has called for a high-level meeting over the matter.

Shankaracharya has invited Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, Endowment Commissioner, Law Minister Pratap Jena, Orissa HC Bar Association President, Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb, Jagannath temple chief administrator and senior servitors of the temple for a meeting on February 17 to hold discussions in connection with the temple reforms, informed Govardhan mutt spokesperson Manoj Ratha.

Apart from this, all other stakeholders who also play a big role in the temple reforms along with the amicus curiae have been intimated to join the meeting, he said.

“In last 70 years, several governments have come and gone while many probe commissions have been set up over irregularities and disruption in the 12th centurys shrine, but we feel that the results to implement reforms in the temple has been dissatisfactory. With an aim to find a permanent solution to this problem, the Shankaracharya has called for the meeting,” Ratha added.
