Bhubaneswar: Peace rallies to candlelight march and ‘Tiranga Yatras’ were organised across Odisha to express solidarity with the families of CRPF jawans martyred in the Pulwama terrorist attack during observance of the ‘Bharat Trade Bandh’ called by the Confederation of All India Traders (CIAT) today.

From the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to Berhampur, traders and people from all walks of life extended support to the bandh which was observed from 7 AM till 4 PM today.

All the shops and other business establishments across Odisha downed their shutters as a mark of tribute to the 40 CRPF jawans including two from the State who were martyred in the Pulwama terrorist attack on February 14.

The Cuttack Chamber of Commerce has also announced to provide financial assistance to the families of the two Odia CRPF jawans.

“The entire country is united and today all the markets in Cuttack including Malgodown remained closed,” said Cuttack Chamber of Commerce, joint secretary, Prashant Patra.

In Bhubaneswar, ABVP took out a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ from Kamala Nehru College and covered several prominent streets before the rally culminated at Rajmahal Square today. The students of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyala staged a patriotic drama as a tribute to the martyred jawans of the country.

Similarly, all the shops and other business establishments were closed in Berhampur and other parts of the State as well.
