Puintala BDO abducted by block vice chairman; rescued
Bolangir: The suspense behind abduction of Puintala Block Development Officer (BDO), Saroj Kumar Mishra today came to a startling end after police rescued the official and informed that the vice chairman of the block was involved in the kidnapping.
As per reports, as many as 8-10 miscreants reached the block office in a four-wheeler vehicle in the afternoon today and forcefully abducted the BDO.
“The miscreants entered BDO’s office and forced him into the vehicle and fled the spot,” said the clerk at the block office.
Police soon launched a probe to track the kidnappers. Mishra was rescued by police in the evening.
“After receiving complaints about the abduction of the BDO, we had begun a probe and after around 2 hours, we tracked the kidnappers and rescued the BDO. The key accused in the abduction is the block vice chairman Raghunath Gurandi and we are investigating the involvement of other persons and trying to ascertain the motive behind the kidnapping,” said K. Siva Subramani, Bolangir SP.
Soon after reports of Gurandi’s involvement surfaced, he was suspended by the Congress party.
