Kendrapara/Bhubaneswar: The workers of the women wing of the state Congress today staged demonstrations before the Mahila police station here to protest against police inaction against the accuseds in a rape case. The victim, a tenant at Salia sahi has gone back to her native place in Kendrapara. The Commissionerate police has assured the agitationists to take immediate action against the persons involved in the crime.

The activists of the women wing of the Congress complained that the officials of the Mahila police station in the capital lodged the FIR only after the matter was reported in the media which raised question marks over the intentions of the police personnel. On November 19,2011 a missing case was registered in the police station after the woman went missing from her rented house in Salia Sahi. The woman on her return had informed the police about the entire incident.

According to reports, some youths of Salia Sahi had forcefully taken her away in a vehicle. Later she was raped by one Satyabadi who too promised to marry her. The woman complained that Satyabadi subjected her to regular sexual harrassment. Like the Pipli gang rape incident, the Salia Sahi incident too has created flutter in the state.
