Bargarh: Agitated over the alleged misbehaviour with a lawyer by Kalyani Behera, the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Bargarh Sadar Police Station, members of District Lawyers’ Association Wednesday staged a demonstration outside the police station demanding action against the IIC.

It is being alleged that Behera insulted Advocate Binay Joshi while he had gone to the station in connection with a case yesterday.

“Joshi was in uniform and even after introducing himself as a lawyer, she insulted him. We are here to protest the act. We want the cop to be expelled from the district. She has misbehaved with many people during her postings in different police stations earlier,” alleged President of Bargarh Lawyers’ Association, Saroj Kumar Tripathy.

The lawyers however withdrew their agitation after Bargarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) reached the spot and assured them of action following a proper investigation.

“The lawyers have alleged that the IIC misbehaved with one of their colleagues. I had come to enquire the matter on the direction of the SP. After submission of the report, the SP will decide on the further course of action in this connection,” informed SDPO Nagendra Nayak.

The IIC could not be contacted over the allegations.
