Bhadrak: Property worth lakhs were destroyed in two separate fire mishaps in Bhadrak district late on Sunday. A house was reduced to cinders in a fire mishap at Joragadia village under Bhandaripokhari block while four cattle and 25 goats were charred to death in the incident.

According to reports, locals noticed smoke emanating from the houses of one Amarendra Pal and immediately informed the fire brigade. Soon, the fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

However, property worth lakhs of rupees including four paddy stacks were destroyed in the fire mishap. Though the exact cause behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained, further investigation has started into the incident.

In another incident, four shops were gutted after fire broke out at Hatpati fish market in Chandbali of Bhadrak district late last night. It is being suspected that an electric short circuit triggered the fire.
