Bhubaneswar: A special court today passed an order to confiscate the properties to the tune of Rs.1,76,93,853 belonging to former deputy manager (Finance) of Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) Dilip Mahanty in a disproportionate asset (DA) case.

The properties consisting of movable and immovable includes his hotel at Puri, some plots in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, his ancestral house at Arilo in Cuttack, bank deposits, gold and silver ornaments, electronic gadgets which were found from his house during raids by the vigilance sleuths.

Mohanty was awarded three years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh and in default of payment to undergo RI for 15 months by a special court in September last year while his wife Krushna Priya was sentenced to simple imprisonment for one year and was imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 in default of payment of fine to undergo imprisonment for one more month.

On the allegation of accumulation of disproportionate assets, Mohanty's house at BDA colony here, office room at Vanivihar, paternal house at Arilo village under Cuttack Sadar police station area and Hotel Asharya at Puri were searched in December, 2004.
