Rourkela: In a royal ritual, Prince Birkishore Indra Deo Dev (58) was crowned as king of Bonaigarh estate in Orissa`s Sundargarh district after the demise of his father Kadamba Keshari Chandra Deo Dev at the age of 83.

Kadamba Keshari Chandra Deo Dev died on Wednesday and as per royal rituals, the crowning ceremony should be completed before mortal remains of the late king are consigned to flames.

The crowning ceremony was held at King`s palace at Kaliposh near Bonai as per traditional ritual where Kalaiposh Zamindar Bisikeshan Singha Samanta and Raj Guru, Moti Bhusan Mishra, royal family priests.

All educational institutions, offices and market places remained closed as a mark of respect to late king Kadamba and welcomed the new king.

Among others, prominent members of other ex-princely estates like senior Congress leader and former OPCC President, K.P.Singhdeo and BJP Legislature party leader, K.V.Singhdeo were present.
