President Droupadi Murmu, who is on a six-day visit to Odisha, visited Jajpur on Tuesday, the second day of her tour, and offered prayers at the revered Maa Biraja Temple, according to her official schedule.
During her visit, the President paid obeisance at the shrine of Maa Biraja, the presiding deity of the district. She was scheduled to spend over one-and-a-half hours at the temple complex. At the time of reporting, President Murmu was performing Pinda Daan at Nabhi Gaya, a sacred site located near the Biraja Temple.
The ritual was expected to take around 45 minutes, following which the President was scheduled to remain at the Biraja Peeth till about 11:30 am. After completing the Pinda Daan ceremony, she was also slated to visit temples of other presiding deities situated within the Biraja Temple complex.
According to the itinerary, the President may interact with members of the public if time permits, though no official confirmation regarding such an interaction was available.
For the visit, the entire temple premises were barricaded, and elaborate security arrangements were put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.
Travel To Balasore
Following the temple visit, President Murmu was scheduled to proceed to the helipad and travel to Balasore, where she will attend the 12th convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University. After the event, she is scheduled to return to Puri later in the evening.
In view of the President’s visit, security has been tightened across Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, and Balasore to ensure the smooth execution of all scheduled engagements.
