President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday laid foundation stones and inaugurated a series of development projects worth Rs 284 crore in Rairangpur, located in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
The projects span health, education, sports and urban infrastructure sectors, and are aimed at strengthening regional facilities and public amenities.
The President also addressed a public meeting held at the Rairangpur Kacheri ground, which was attended by state ministers, senior officials and local residents. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi was present during the programme.
Health, Education And Sports Infrastructure
Among the key projects, the President laid the foundation stone for a new AYUSH hospital along with an Ayurvedic centre, being developed at a cost of Rs 85 crore. A new campus of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), worth Rs 100 crore, was also included in the projects unveiled during the visit.
To promote sports among youth, the foundation stone was laid for an archery centre with an estimated cost of Rs 23 crore. In addition, an urban beautification project for Rairangpur town, involving drainage system upgradation and city development works, has been planned at a cost of Rs 35 crore.
Social Infrastructure Projects
Other projects for which foundation stones were laid include a 360-bed women’s hostel costing Rs 10 crore, a Brahma Kumari de-addiction centre with an outlay of Rs 2.50 crore, and a large auditorium worth Rs 27 crore.
The President also inaugurated an IT campus of Maharaja Sriram Chandra University, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.76 crore.
Ministers Highlight Regional Development
Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said the projects would significantly contribute to the region’s development.

“In the upcoming days, there will be likely a large AYUSH medical tourism here. An OUAT campus worth Rs 100 crore and an archery centre worth Rs 23 crore have been planned. For the development of the region, drainage system upgradation and city beautification Rs 35 crore was allotted. President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 2,84,83,00,000 crore today, CM Mohan Majhi was also present in the event” he said.
