Cuttack: The district administration and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) have started preparations for Bali Yatra festival scheduled to begin from November 12 to November 19 at Bali Yatra ground in the Silver City.

A preparatory meeting chaired by Cuttack collector, Bhabani Shankar Chayani, for the biggest trade fair in the state was held recently.

Amid ban on usage of Single-Use Plastics, the administration has stressed on preparations with special focus on ensuring polythene free celebration of festival this year.

"All the traders at the time of plot distribution will be asked to prohibit the use of polythene completely," said Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani.

"The preparations for the festival have begun with commencement of works on the approach road, parking space, cleanliness drive and electrification in both the grounds," said Chayani.

This year the authorities will give special emphasis to strictly follow the National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines while allotting site, said Chayani.

According to sources, this year the administration is planning to issue identity cards to every traders participating in the fair.

"Temporary toilets along with the grounds will be cleaned by the CMC workers in two shifts. Special squads will be formed to check the food quality," CMC Commissioner Ananya Das said.
