Bhubaneswar: Prarthana television channel's 'Chal Khetra Jiba' programme organised to promote Jagannath culture concluded today. Many devotees, artistes and people from other walks of life were part of the event during which a chariot of lord Jagannath went all around the pilgrim town of Puri. On the occasion, many devotees performed traditional dance and later a lamp was lit to mark the end of the event.

The chariot, after reaching Puri, was taken from Gundicha Temple to Singha Dwar while making stops at various Mutts and Temples along the way.

The chariot carrying the idol of Lord Jagannath had begun its journey on February 12 from Chausathi Jogini Temple near Balianta in Khurda amid chants of Hari Bol and Jai Jagannath from devotees. The chariot visited Praraharajpur, Teisipur and Birapurusottampur after reaching Dasia Bauri Math on February 13.

"It is a great attempt to promote Jagannath culture among the devotees by Prarthana channel," said Surya Narayan Rath Sharma, a Jagannath culture researcher.

"The main aim of the padyatra was to promote Jagannath culture. It gives me Goosebumps to explain the response of villagers during the campaign," Event Head of OTV Network, Shyama Prasad Mishra said.
