Pradhan targets Odisha govt for not cutting VAT on fuel

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan came down heavily on the Odisha government for not reducing the VAT on petrol and diesel.

Responding to Odisha Finance minister’s statements, Pradhan said “You cannot wake up someone up who is pretending to be asleep while being awake.”

“The State government is shedding crocodile tears. You cannot explain certain things to shameless people. Pray Lord Jagannath to enlighten them”, Pradhan said.

Earlier today, Sashi Bhusan Behara said “Within the price cut of Rs 2.5/litre by the centre, the consumers are receiving a benefit of Rs 1.96 from the Central government and 51 paise from the State government. No one knows what will happen in the next 10-15 days under the dynamic pricing mechanism. With this step, the Central government has created an illusion of fuel price reduction.”
