Polling staff dies during election duty in Dhenkanal
Dhenkanal: A 42-year-old polling staff died while voting was underway at booth no-41 in Kantapal area under Parjang Assembly constituency in the district during the third phase polls today. The deceased has been identified as Nabakishore Nayak, a resident of Hindol area of Dhenkanal.
Nayak was engaged as a polling officer at booth when he reportedly fell ill and collapsed inside the polling station. Soon, he was rushed to Kamakhyanagar hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
Though it is suspected that Nayak lost his life due to a cardiac arrest, however, the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier on Sunday, a polling official, who was engaged as the Fifth Polling Officer at booth no 149 of Ghasipura Assembly constituency died at a despatch centre. The deceased Abhaya Kumar Sethi was a staff of Champua High School.
