Bargarh: Ahead of the Bijepur bypoll on October 21, Director General of Police (DGP), BK Sharma has assured that police will remain unbiased while discharging its duties and will not show undue favours to political parties and act as per the guidelines laid out by the Election Commission.

During a review meeting held today at the office of the Bargarh SP, DGP Sharma informed that adequate security arrangements will be made for the bypoll adding 30 platoons of force have been sought by the district police administration.

"Four platoons of CRPF, three platoons of SS battalion will be deployed; SOG and DVF will also be engaged for Bijepur bypoll. Strict checking will be done at various check points and immediate action will be taken if required," said Sharma.

“The process for arresting anti-socials has already begun,” added Sharma. The top cop also informed that CCTV cameras will be installed at 15 places to heighten surveillance.

The meeting was attended by ADG Law & Order, ADG Intelligence Department, IG Special Branch, IG CRPF, IG BSF and other police officers.

Counting of votes will be done on October 24.
