Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has directed police stations in twin cities of Cuttack & Bhubaneswar to set up reception centres in order to help general public file complaints with ease.

This would help people to register their complaints without having to go through some channel or recommendations.

“Many people used to come to police stations via reference or recommendation to file complaints. This has to stop completely,” Police commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said.

Everything will be transparent now. Details of all the cases will henceforth be shared with the press. A public notice will be issued soon as service becomes fully functional,” Mohanty said.

The Commissioner said that once the service starts, people don’t have to visit police station multiple times for cases like mobile theft, car theft and missing documents.

A complainant will get a number after filing a complaint and he/she can keep a track of the case over phone.

“We will first accept the complaint and give a serial number to the complainant. Later, they can follow up the case based on the number. For cases involving punishable offence, the IIC will take a call,” Mohanty added.
