Police seize body of minor girl from cremation ground

Koraput: Police recovered body of a minor girl from a cremation ground today in Dasamantapur village of Koraput.

According to sources, family members of the girl took her body for cremation without informing anyone after she died under mysterious circumstances.

Subsequently, after being informed about the incident police reached the spot and stopped the cremation.

"After getting information we reached the cremation ground and seized the body. After a local inquiry we have come to know that the minor girl was pregnant but it is yet to be ascertained," a police official Anirudha Nayak said.

The body was later sent to the Dasamantapur hospital for autopsy to ascertain the cause behind the death.

Not convinced with the circumstances of the death, cops are interrogating the family members of the victim while an investigation is currently underway.
