Police produce Board officials before HC

The two officials, who tendered unconditional apology during their production before a single jundge bench of Justice Kumari Sanju Panda yesterday for not responding to the earlier notices, were given a fresh direction to file their affidavits in response to the petitions by August 24.

Justice Panda had directed a city police inspector to produce BSE Secretary Nihar Ranjan Mohapatra and examination controller Nimain Charan Swain in the court for a personal appearance in connection with at least three writ petitions pertaining to irregularities in this year`s matriculation examination.

The case inter alia pertains to arbitrary marks awarded to at least 17 students who appeared the 2012 matriculation examinations in a center in Keonjhar district.

Although, the students had wrote the English paper of the examination in a separate room of the center, the students were shown absent in the paper.

Admitting the petitions, the High Court had earlier directed the two officials for a personal appearance along with the answer sheets of the concerned students.

But Mohapatra and Swain failed to respond to the notice, following which Justice Panda had directed Mangalabag police inspector Pramod Kumar Rath to produce the two officials in the Court yesterday.
