Police probe begins into alleged rape and murder of minor girl in Bhadrak; 4 detained

An investigation has been initiated into the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in the Chandabali police station area of Bhadrak district. Based on CCTV footage, police have taken four local persons into custody for questioning.

The body of the 10-year-old girl was recovered yesterday from a dense forest within Chandabali police limits. According to reports, the minor had left her home after informing her family that she was going to school. When she failed to return, family members began searching for her, following which her body was recovered from the forest.

Following the incident, local residents staged a protest demanding justice by burning tyres and blocking the road. Chandabali police reached the spot and carried out an investigation; however, no official response has been issued by the police so far.
