Police officers threaten to wear black badges during duty from Jan 31

Cuttack: The Odisha Police Officers’ Association today threatened to stage protest by wearing black badges during duty hours from January 31 if the government fails to fulfill their demands before January 30.
While addressing a press conference in Cuttack, president of Odisha Police Officers’ Association, Satyajit Mishra alleged that State government has failed to fulfill their long-standing demands despite repeated requests.

Mishra said that since 2016 the association has been urging the State government to fulfill their demands which include pay against government leave, grade pay hike, health insurance for police personnel, expenses for officers conducting investigations and permanent status for contractual employees.

“If the government doesn’t give us written assurance to fulfill our demands before January 30, we will wear black badges on duty from January 31 onwards. We will wear black badges during our duty at the Odisha Assembly on February 4 and decide the next course of action in the next meeting,” Mishra said.
