Police nab criminal after encounter in Cuttack

Cuttack: Police have managed to nab a notorious criminal yesterday in Cuttack during an encounter. The accused identified as Uttam Singh alias Kabua, who received bullet injury on his left leg, is said to be involved in multiple cases including hurling bomb at a PCR van on Friday in Kurunti village.

Kabua has been admitted into Cuttack’s S.C.B Medical College and Hospital.

Acting on a tip-off around 8:10 pm yesterday, Inspector-in-charge Sudhansu Bhusan Jena of Cuttack Sadar Police Station directed ASI(Assistant Sub Inspector)Ashok Kumar Patra to reach T.K Villa of Kothapatana Mauza area along with his squad where Kabua was present. When Patra and his team reached the spot, Kabua took out a pistol and fired at the police team, said sources.

During the encounter, Patra narrowly escaped a bullet. However, before Kabua could fire the next bullet, the ASI fired at him aiming below his waist leaving the culprit injured.

Following which Kabua fell on the ground. Subsequently, the policemen snatched his pistol away and brought him under their control.
