Bhubaneswar: In a unique initiative, passengers arriving at Terminal-1 of the Biju Patnaik International Airport can now book prepaid taxis without the tantrums of cab drivers.

Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty today inaugurated the prepaid taxi counter which will be jointly-managed by the Commissionerate police, Airport Taxi Association and Bhubaneswar airport.

As per reports, the initiative will ensure safety to commuters and protect them from unreasonable fares charged by cab owners. "Police is also a part of the initiative, so passengers can have trust while booking a ride from the airport," Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty said.

"Since it is being supported by the police, the service will be good. Only the government needs to control the rates," a passenger Rabi Nanda said.

"We were trying hard to start this service and we are sure that we will provide better service than others," Secretary of Airport Taxi Association, Pradip Das said.
