Rourkela: Police foiled a dacoity bid in main branch of a leading public sector bank at Bisra road here today and arrested two members of a gang. Acting on a tip off, a special squad of Rourkela police raided the gang`s hideout and arrested the duo, Rourkela superintendent of police Himanshu Lal said.

While three others of the gang managed to escape, a country-made revolver loaded with one catridge, Rs 9,150 in cash, one motor bike without registration number, two mobile phones and 221 gem stones were recovered from the duo. During interrogation, the two confessed that they hailed from Ganjam district and were involved in many cases of dacoity and theft in different places of the steel city, Lal said. Both were produced before a court here which remanded them to jail custody.
