Balasore: In a major twist to the "acid attack" incident that took place yesterday in Balasore town, police on Monday revealed that the 28-year- old woman received burn injuries not because of "acid" but due to fire.

Based on preliminary investigation, the Sahadevkhuta police confirmed that the  woman received injuries while trying to set afire an insurance company office. However, the reason behind such an attempt by her is yet to be known. Meanwhile, police is trying to establish the exact reason behind the false "acid attack" allegation by the family.

Notably,  the woman's family yesterday registered a complaint with the police alleging that she was attacked with acid by two bike borne men at Police Line Chhak under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Balasore town. The two masked-youths fled the spot after committing the crime, read the complaint filed by the woman's Uncle.

The injured woman, is currently undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. She has received burn injuries on her face, chest and hands, said reports.
