Puri: Abiding by the Orissa High court directive, one platoon police force have been deployed at the MR mutt here on Friday for the security of the silver bricks that were found inside the mutt.

The mutt is now under the security cordon of the Simhadwar police.

On February 26, 522 silver bricks weighing around 18 tonnes were recovered from MR mutt and there was dispute over the ownership of the bricks. However, police had seized the bricks and shifted to another room in the mutt. Concerned over the safety of the bricks, the mutt authorities had approached the High court as the police had not submitted the seizure list to it.

Meanwhile, the police said that, since the bricks were not enlisted in the property list of the mutt, it had taken appropriate action according to the law of the land and all papers related to the issue will be submitted before the court by April 4.

“We are continuing the process of collecting evidence and hope that after the process is over, we will go for arrest of the accused and take legal action”, said Puri city DSP Rajkishore Paikrai.
