Balasore: Balasore Sadar police today arrested 6 highway robbers and seized 2 four-wheelers, 2 two-wheelers, 5 mobile phones and sharp weapons from their possession.

While two persons were arrested in connection with a robbery executed on May 12 near National Highway 60, others were arrested in two different incidents near Soro.

According to sources, these robbers used to target vehicles coming from West Bengal after getting tip-offs from their sources. Subsequently, they used to stop the vehicles on the way and rob the traders carrying money.

"The drivers of these vehicles are the primary informers of the robbers, who target fish and cattle traders carrying money for payments,” said Balasore SDPO, Prabhas Pal.

The robbers are residents of Bhadrak and have looted more than Rs 14 lakh till date, informed police.
