Angul: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with farmers of Angul district and highlighted his government's major schemes aimed at boosting development of farmers.

Through video conferencing at Nalco training auditorium in Angul, Modi discussed several initiatives pertaining to farmers, its implementation and successes achieved in the last four years of his government at the Centre.

PM Modi also lauded the farmers for their efforts in agricultural sector. Modi also held one-on-one discussions with two farmers-Benudhar Pradhan and Binapani Rout.

"The PM enquired about the farming techniques we were using earlier. Now after various skill training programmes provided by Krisi Vigyan Kendra, we have managed to implement newer techniques of farming and irrigation. We presented all the information before him,” Binapani said.

Asked about how she felt after discussions with Modi, she said “I had never hoped that a woman from a small village would get a chance to talk directly with the Prime Minister of the country."

Agriculture experts and farmers congregated at the Nalco auditorium to take part in the video conference meeting with PM Modi.

Senior Scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Angul, Binita Satpathy said “Talking directly with the PM Modi is a big achievement for Angul district and the State. Most importantly experts of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, all the line departments of the district and farmers have been able to come forward and tell how much they have achieved.”
