Bhubaneswar: Deputy Secretary of Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Sambalpur zone Devendra Behera has been suspended in connection with Plus II exam question paper leak, said Higher Education minister Badri Narayan Patra on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Behera’s son has also appeared for Plus II examination this year, a fact which Behara has been hiding from the council, said sources.

As per rules and regulations of CHSE, one cannot be given the charge of examination controller in case his/her relative is appearing for the same exam.

“I have already informed the council about my son appearing this year’s Plus II exam”, claimed Behera producing the letter written to the council on media.

“Some CHSE officials have tried to trap me in order to hide their fault”, added Behera.

Earlier on March 8, police had detained Bijay Jena, examination controller of Mahalinga Anchalika College of Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district over Chemistry question paper leak. The flying squad accompanied by police raided the college and found the Chemistry questions packet opened.

“Mahalinga Anchalika College of Dharmagarh was not fulfilling any criteria for being a centre, still the Chairman has the power to make it a centre. And I am unable to understand what kind of power has been used for it”, said Behera.

CHSE on March 7, called off the Physics exam as the question paper was published in a vernacular daily before commencement of the test. The exam has been rescheduled for March 25.

Similarly, for the second consecutive day, the Council authorities cancelled the Chemistry exam and rescheduled it for March 26. Later, Higher Education department fixed March 30 as the date of exam.
