PIL on Konark Sun Temple: HC issues notices to Centre, State & ASI
Cuttack: While hearing a PIL on the repair and conservation of Konark Sun Temple, the Orissa High Court today issued notices to all stakeholders including Odisha, Centre and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The petitioner, advocate Dilip Mohapatra through his PIL had earlier sought for measures for the protection, repair and conservation of the world heritage site basing on the original case filed in 2010.
While hearing the matter, the High Court today sought more details regarding the actions taken by all stakeholders and scheduled the next hearing for December 10, sources said.
“We had filed the case after huge cracks appeared on the main gate of the Sun Temple. The High Court has sought reply from concerned stakeholders in this regard and ordered appropriate steps for the conservation of the temple gate.” said Dr Ashok Kumar Mohapatra, petitioner’s advocate.
Mohapatra also informed that the petitioner has also sought High Court’s intervention over acute water-logging conditions at Konark Sun Temple.
